HA HA HA That's an awesome picture!
On a similar note... I have been borrowing a car recently since my car has a 7MGE and its having another sleepover at the mechanics... anyway I was driving home today and some stupid woman in a Mondeo was tailgating me ... I was doing 60 in a 60 zone and refused to speed for her.
Anyway she tailgated me for over a km and then decided to turn left at an intersection I had stopped at. She passed me and went down the 'turn left lane' and I was like, "phew that crazy bitch has gone"... And, what does she do? She runs straight up the back of a Range Rover!!!! I heard the screech but didn't see it and was shocked when I realised how close I was to being the one who was hit.
There are two things I hate in this world, incompetent drivers and M series engines.

Heh. Its almost as bad as when I almost ran up this Holden driven by some old dude. I was going a tad over 70 (maybe 80? maybe 90? I dunno but thats not the point) on a 70km/h road and this guy pulls out from his driveway on a 3 lane road and merges straight into the right lane which I am on. I was a fair way back at this point but c'mon, if you want to merge into the right at least speed up. I had to brake down to 40km/h coz I just didnt realise that they would be stupid enough to go that slow in the right lane. And kept at that speed for another approx. 1km. Ah well. At least I know my brakes work.

Sadly this particular brand of stupidity seems to be getting more and more common all the time. I just keep driving at the same speed until just before the point of no return as if I'm going to slam into them, then brake at the last minute (I love having big brakes).

What an appropriate thread, Driving home from work today I was stuck behind a Victorian magna driver doing 30-40 along a hilly road, in a 60 zone. totally oblivious to everything :\ It wouldn't have worried me too much if it was a straight road, but because it was hilly it was just causing problems for me and the 10 or so other cars stuck behind her :\

well if they would AT LEAST DIVE THE SPEED limit we would have this problem
and seen alot of "fast looking" cars (riced r33, civics, etc..) driving under the speed limit, even worse when they have their fully sick d00f d00f going, its like WHO CARS SHUT UP AND DIVE 60! (they were doing like 50-55)

I was doing 120km/h in this completely quiet one lane (one each way) road adjacent to a station which I shall not name and you've got a clear view for AGES and it was totally empty then I see a car further up indicating. I didn't think anything of it because I was going pretty fast and he just cut in and was driving at like 35km/h and my brakes locked up and screeched for a good 5 metres and I was SO scared I was going to hit the bastard but luckily the lane going in my direction split off for a tiny section for parking so I was able to screech along in there. If I had stayed behind him I wouldn't have hit him luckily, but it makes me so angry. I REALLY hate it when you're going at a decent speed like 70-80 (legally) and some idiot decides that they HAVE to get onto the road, they just can't wait and then don't even bother to speed up, inconveniencing EVERYONE behind them!!
It also makes me wish I had ABS brakes a lot more.

man i hate SLOW drivers
speed limits should be a MINIMUM
this was quite some time ago but nonetheless
the one and only time i have been done for speeding was cos i was frustrated at being held up by a slow ass driver in a te magna, it was on new belair rd and almost dark, i wasnt speeding or ne thing ( i had heaps of parts in the car )...then this fuddy duddy in a magna pulls out and proceeds to go 40km/ph up this hill, limit is 60kh/ph, n e way i am getting really impatient as with the 4ac it is a bit annoying in second, but labouring in 3rd lol! eventually he pulls of, relieved, i floor it....i am coming up the the hairpin and i see the cops and im like fuck! that was pure frustration i was sooo pissed of 80km/ph in a 60 zone...cost me $400 to get back on the road! grrr...

If you're a good driver you know how fast your car accelerates and you will know not to merge into the right lane of a 3-lane road if you don't have the pace. Heaps of times I've had to wait longer than usual to turn into a road when I've got 4 or 5 people in the car because I know my car won't make it. Sometimes it pisses people off but I'm not stupid enough to try and floor it. I'm not going to get into an accident because someone behind me can't hang on for 30 seconds. Pffft.

40 on a 60? Try 40 on a 70, 50 on a 90 & 70 on a 100 road, all todays experiences Is it something to do with remembrance day or what??? Anyway time to vent, had a terrible day today & wish I carried a gun...
First off a 4wd queued across an intersection marked 'KEEP CLEAR' in big white letters!!! I left enough space so people could still turn, but a stupid cow in a Magna didn't realise until the last minute & by then our lights had changed green. THEN she decides to turn, right in front of me...
Secondly going up Mount Ousley i'm in the right lane passing the trucks when a Camry pulls out from the left lane and proceeds to crawl up the mountain doing about 70 in the aforementioned 100 zone, while the traffic backs up behind him. Upon reching the crest of the hill he speeds up past 100 as i'm trying to get into the left lane to take my turnoff.
So I get in front of him & take my foot off the accelerator until we slow down to about 60. He pulls into the other lane, I speed up to the limit & he pulled back behind me. Again I lift my foot off the accelerator & we slow down, again he tries to pass me. Third time he gave up & I went on my way, gee it's annoying when people speed up as you're trying to overtake
Also cruising between Waterfall & Heathcoate I nearly got cleaned up by a Rodeo which drifted into my lane by accident, driver must've been picking his nose as he was digging deep when I passed him. And lastly I was stuck behind a Magna running two stroke by the smell of it. Intersection was covered in grey smoke & I felt sick, still do actually. What are the symptons of carbon monoxide poisoning? Got the plates, can we report these cars to the EPA or something???

Yeah, report the fucker... I got reported by some Šunt and my car used only to blow a small puff of black smoke (fuel) on startup but never when running. I was so cut about that because I regularly see cars like the one you mentioned who are on the road spewing out shit 100 times worse and 100% of the time.

Nah i'll pass, not really the violent type although my ICQ profile says otherwise Reminds me of a story my grandfather told me, apparently his wife (my grandmother) hated him taking his car past 80 on the freeway. He would often pray that she would fall asleep so he could do the speed limit...

I used to drive a truck for my old job, went up Ousley every Friday morning (do you live in Wollongong?). I had the poor old Isuzu pinned at 40 kays overtaking semis, then 2 old birds pull out into the right lane doing 35. Lost my run-up Had to drop back to second and cruise up the hill with the semis

I think it's a perfectly good expectation. When you drive your own car you have a feel for it. You know how fast it goes and if you can make it or not. Maybe it doesn't happen but it should be expected. The path to obtaining a license should be a lot more demanding I think.
Even instructors will tell you, when over-taking, don't get right behind the car. Keep a distance of like a metre then change lanes and then come back into your original lane. However this isn't possible if you have an older, crappy car (which instructors do not).
I've been honked at before because I desperately needed to get into the next lane and because traffic was travelling fast, when I got to the next lane it was too close to the guy behind me's car (even though it actually was safe). Still, if I had a better engine it would be much easier but it'd be nice if people considered these sorts of things more.
I'm tired, I might be rambling on and talking shit.

Well, its understood that it takes time to gather speed. But being Quote: | a fair way back at this point
| I did have room to stop and he did have room to speed up. The fact that he was at 40km/h forQuote: | another approx. 1km

But not long after that they changed the speed limit to 50.
Why did i say that? i dunno thought it was a litle relevant, I feel old, off to bed for me
