No spark, just a quick question...... Wed, 10 November 2004 03:25 Go to next message
Ok, now I'm cracking up.
I have got my ecu hooked up on my 1g-gte. Not getting any spark at all. Just went and bought a new coil and ignitor. Same thing.

Question 1 (most important):

Can someone pls help me out with how much voltage I should be getting at the plug to the ignitor/coil.

On pin 1 i've got 0
pin 2 4.6v
pin 3 4.6v
pin 4 11.8v
pin 5 0
pin 6 0

I'm guessing the 4.5v is ok for the circuitry, then 12v for the coil. Is that right?

Question 2:

Also, all of the wires were different colours on my harness to the wiring diagram, I just went off the Pin outs on the diagram. is this the correct thing to do???

Question 3:

Does all the power going to the ingnitor/coil come from the ECU and the alternator??? There is no other wires that connect from the Celica harness to the ignitor/coil specifically.

Question 4:

I am close to my wits end. Any volunteers north of the bridge (syd) keen to come over and have a fiddle around?? There is free beer involved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for your help guys, and taking the time to read this. I am well aquainted with the search function, but my dial up connection and frustration level is not healthy for the computer.

The power to the ignitor and ecu, does that come from the 'accessories' power, or 'ignition' power.

Because remember the accessories power gets cut when you turn the key to 'start'

Have someone crank the motor over, and see if you still have 12V at the coil

Thanks for your help, I think the ECU is wired up correctly, with power from

battery going to BATT pin on ECU,
IGN 12v from key goes IGN on ECU,
Starter from key goes to STRT on ECU.

ACC is left for the stereo and not wired up to anything at the moment.

The main question is whether I should be getting 12v at any of the other pins on the connecter to the igniter. One of them probably should be an earth.
Cheers

That I can't answer you

All I can say is make sure you have the right wiring diagram for your Gen 1ggte.
