If you have a fair bit of spare cash you could go the 3S-GTE!!! You wont get too much better
Do a search on here, this conversion has been covered a few times

Well i was just about to start a thread like this so ill put my Question in here:
By the way warp i have a freekn essay of someone off these forums putting in a 3s-gte in their TA22 if your interested ....
Question: originally considering the 1G swap....however i dont wanna move the firewall.....so im thinking, if i cant fit a Straight 6 in there....surely i could fit a V6 ???
In particular the 2MZ-FE: 2.5 Ltre V6

from my sources say a 2MZ-FE is
V6 60 degrees, alloy block + head, belt, 3.0l, 1994-
2496cc 200hp@6000 180FtLb@4600
aparently it came out of a Japanese domestic market car called the Windom, it seens to be related to the avalon as its bigger siblings are found in the Avalons
another option is the 2VZ-FE its a bit older but it was available in the local camrys its spec is
V6, belt, 2.5-3.0L, 1987-
2507cc 159hp 159FtLb
its not as spectacular but it will be easier to get hold of
although i dont think it was availible in RWD only format
this is the link i got the specs from
http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Pit/9975/dataBy Subject/GasolineEngines.html
Enjoy

hehe
well if the 2mz-fe are rare as the screw that
as for the 2VZ-FE i wouldnt bother cause ive heard the 3t-gte is almost a straight bolt in ??....and that gets 160HP...so that seems the better option...thanx for the suggestion though
Obviously i was willing for the 2mz-fe cause of its 200HP
So yeah it seems as though at this stage im going either the 3s-gte or 3t-gte....quite possibly the later sue to its ease of placing in

The 3T-GTE is the way to go if you want an easy swap and don't want to sell a kidney to finance it. Remember 160hp is acheived with a pissweak turbo and no intercooler, so the potential for much more power is definitely there. 200hp is easy, a decent intercooler and exhaust is all it will take. Upgrade the turbo and 250hp will be within reach.

being a 60 degree engine its fairly wide. i had a look at a friends 3VZ in a 4runner and it looks like it could be squeezed into a TA22 (thats why i checked it out) cos the chassis rails are fairly low i think it would fit but need some actual measurements to be sure. Although i dont think a RWD only gearbox is availible so a custom item would need to be made.
the 3Vz is such a sweet sounding motor even with standard exhaust (it regularly saw its redline ) that i would be happy to do the conversion even if its not the most potent engine availible

Well i was trying to aim for 150 RWKW
And that 200HP at the fly im assuming turns to be 150 KW at the fly
and lets say a max of 30KW drivetrain loss....130KWRW ...thats definetely sufficient
Just thinking out loud here
Thanx norbie

Does it have to be a toyota engine?? Expand your options.
the problem with going for a NA engine is that being a light car to start with your limited to a variety of engines that arent really all that powerful. compared to Forced induction anyway.
A friend of mine had a S13 silvia with a SR20DET with only a boost upgrade and it turned 151Kw at the wheels before he sold it
im condsidering doing a SR20 into my TA22 as its a good mix of weight-power and age, also there is a plethorea of bolt on upgrades for them.
although a 6cyl would be good i dont think its all that easy
