Few details wouldn't hurt!

Check that you are firing on the right cylinder as well.

Checking for fuel - hrmm - well depends how dodgy-a-mechanic you are!

the engine is a 18rgeu...ive chucked on some carbs just to get it running before i use the efi gear. its had all new rings, bearings, gaskets etc and is using 18rc pistons to lower the comp as its getting turboed. the spark is there but weak. ive replaced the coil, ignitor and dizzy with another i have but still the same thing, ive tried spraying "start ya bastard" down the carbs but nothing still. checked the timing a thousand times and tried moving the dizzy. ive reversed the firing order but that was a mistake Laughing i just cant figure out why apart from it doesnt seem to crank over as fast as it should.

and no im not a dody mechanic. everything was mac hined, acid dipped block etc etc

mechanical pump or electric? if electric, disconnect the fuel hose from a carby and put it in a jar, turn ignition to on and fuel should come out. if mechanical, you'll have to crank the motor over to get fuel, hopefully. check your coil wiring, check your points in the dizzy. are the ignition leads new or really old? if really old then replace them. how old's your battery?

what are your spark plugs like? check the gaps. it could be being a bitch cause of the lower comp ratio.

deffinetly has fuel at the carbs and i can here them swuirting inside...there is no points all electric...i have spark but constanstant..the battery is new but sat for about 1 1/2 mths...i used the battery out of my daily driver and didnt make a difference...the leads that are on it are the ones that were on the engine and they ran fine....

what about your valve timing? are you positive you put the dizzy in the right way(right tooth)?. other than that, i can't think why it wouldn't start. sucking air from head/manifold flange?

i checked the cam timing...when at TDC the notches are straight up and down...im using the notch on the crank pulley on the right hand side...so as u turn the engine its the first one..is that right???? i do not have any exhaust manifold gaskets on it just manifold straight to the head as i didnt wanna run the risk of damaging it if i need to remove it??? could that be a problem...also have no air cleaners just straight carbs sucking in air.....but i do have gaskets on that

the spark is there but weak. ive replaced the coil, ignitor and dizzy with another i have but still the same thing,

How about earth connections? What the battery like? Whats the volts read at the battery? And then whats the volts at the coil? A weak spark can mean that the voltage isn't high enough.

If you are worried about the engine not cranking over fast enough then try a push start dammit!

check the valve timing manually... sound slike something is fishy... and turn motor over slowly to make sure you build up pressure in cylinders, rather than the vales not closing and leaking air...
