My mate with a 4agze powered T18 just put a massive thermo fan on and fitted perfectly to the radiator. The fan was off some quite new Commodore and it was the A/C fan not the thermo fan.
Might help ya..
Cheers

Hey man
I just bought the bigggest fan that would fit from repco and there tempreture control switch.
Mounted the fan by putting the bolts thru fins of radiator, and installed the thermo switch bulb in the top hose.
Only one complaint its a bit loud the fan

yeah probably not the best method. Just have to be careful, the fan came with large washers to help spread the load.
Brakets are probably the best way to go that is how my other cars thermo is set up.

No its not the best cause if thefan start moving around the washers will start wearing a hole into the radiator tubes and the bolts will have a good chance of taking out the fins and also start to wear a hole into the tubes.

It was on there for over a year and it didnt wear a hole in the tubes? Well in that case it should be fine for 5 years :end sarcasm:
Besides the point it looks bodgy mounted like that anyway.

Davies Craig thermo I bought had instructions that said mount it with bolts through the radiator, also said its very important to use fibre washers underneath the regular washers.
I wasn't too fond of the idea, so I just made a couple of brackets out of aluminium strip, its really easy stuff to work with. $2 a metre from bunnings whorehouse.....

i guess it just depends on which way it fits better right?
