drunk timing light

well not as the title says, but i was drunk trying to use a timing light this morn and i could not do it (too drunk eh) and then i gave up, so could someone please help me to remember how to use one of those bastards please......i was trying to help out a friend

postive lead onto batt +ve, negative lead onto batt -ve, inductive clamp around either cyl 1 ignition lead, then pull triger and point the fucker at the timing marks 
helps to liquidpaper the timing mark on the crank pulley too
