does anyone know who long, or what other models, used the steel centred 5 speed g'box that was in RA40's??. I need a bellhousing to adapt this box to a 2S or 3S engine . maybe same as SA63. Any comments/help appreciated. PS...I dont care what side the starter is on. thanks

It could be the same as RA23/8's. Don't quote me on that though. I think the gear boxes are the same. I know they both have 18r engines. It's not much help but it's better than nothing.

RA40's have a W50, same as the RA23/28. It won't bolt up to an S block though; for that you'll need a W55/57 out of an SA63.

my daughters bog-stock SA 63 does not have a W55--it has an old cast-iron box , but not the same as the one i have. The old box I have is a Peter Hollinger close ratio special ex Gp C RA40 celica and its going back into another racer we have with a 3S Altessa engine, thus I need to find the right housing.

I don't think Toyota made such a bellhousing....that is S series engine to W40-50 box. Of course I'm probably wrong.

Ah okay, sounds like a strange box your SA63 has. Every one I've seen to date has had a W55 or W57...can't they just decide on one spec?

Could it be a Borg-Warner box? I know the ST141 Corona came with these, so perhaps some SA63's had them as well?
