Joel - 4AGE AE86

Hello, well I normally only post up pictures and updates of my RA28 Celica. But lately have been doing some work on the AE86 so thought i'd chuck some stuff up here quickly.
I brought it a bit over a year ago for spare parts to repair my girlfriend Meg's AE86 (4AGE also) after an accident. But it ended up coming with enough spare parts (bonnets, tailgates, doors, bumper bars, 3x T50 gearboxes, etc, etc) that we could keep both on the road.
So after some rust repairs and work it turned into a daily driver. The paint is a bit odd as the rear quarters & roof of the car is resprayed after rust repairs. The bonnet, tailgate, guards & doors still original paint. But for a daily driver/weekend track car who cares?
I took it off the road last weekend for an engine upgrade as the 4AC is awful and couldn't put up with it any longer. A 100kw smallport 4AGE with JDM ECU is the new engine.
It should be finished next weekend. Bit of a rush conversion, total of 2 - 3 days work.
So hope you all like. Remember it is STOCK as a rock apart from the newely aquired smallport 4AGE. Soon i'll do some suspension upgrades also as would like it setup to take out for a drift now and then, but still has to remain a daily driver so nothing too wild...
Thanks Witzl, pretty much a duplicate of your tech article
So yeah.. I'll keep this updated with the progress.
Cheers
Joel

Howdy, yeah do all the work myself. Best way I think and just learn as you go.
Yup yellow one is Megs.. We brought that about 5 years maybe 6 ago now before AE86's were such a colt (hmm is this a good thing?) car. It the 4AC in that blew a headgasket so picked up a 88kw 4AGE for $250 complete! Those were the good days haha.
It's been the best car hers, been so reliable and the only money we've had to put into it really is to get some rust in it fixed recently.
Funny enough have basically no pics of it though. I'll give it a clean this weekend and take some.
Cheers

As of 11pm tonight it is officially ALIVE! woohoo.
Couldn't run for long as only exhaust manifold on and neighbours would love that haha.
Will neaten few things up tomorrow on it and somehow try to drive it to the exhaust shop.

I neatened up a few things and took it for a drive today. Ran out of petrol on the way to the garage so that was fun 35 odd degrees and walking around with jerry cans.
Anyway here is a pic of the engine bay. Ran out of condute (spelling?) tubing so still some uncovered wires.
Also here is a shot of Meg's AE86.
Will hopefully take to the exhaust shop this week to get it welded up and can go for a good drive in it.
Cheers
Joel

Hey, yeah I stripped the loom right back to the wires & cut out everything I didn't need.
I didn't put the plastic bits back on as slightly changed where some of the wires went. I ended up not running any wires over the top of the engine at the front.
Cheers

raise that thermostat housing higher joel and dont forget to bleed it of air, failure to do so may cause an air block later and overheating can occur due to water not circulating past the air lock at the thermostat.

IRA11Y: Can you please elaborate on this thrmostat/air thing? It sound scarily familiar to what happened to my engine a year ago... Perhaps that's why.... it makes sense...
Yea so how do you bleed air from said housing?
