1g-gte or sr20 in ra28 Mon, 15 November 2004 13:01 Go to next message
ok, so everyone recomends putting the 1g-gte in to an ra2x but before i got the car i wanted to put an sr20 in.

it is a lot harder to find a decent 1g than it is to find a sr, also an sr is cheaper mainly because there are more and parts are much easier to get a hold of.

there are more after market products available for an sr20 which means it would be esier and cheaper to get big horsepower

iv seen that a few sr20 conversions have been done but theres nothing really clear on the details.

i know the 1g-gte is one of the easiest conversions, but if its not too much harder i would much rather do an sr conversion.
so im really wonderiing if anyone can give some clear details on what needs to be done to fit an sr into an ra28.

thanks, jesse

For the price of an SR20 conversion, you could do a 3S conversion.

How do you figure that? If anything the SR20 is probably easier.

Sorry, brain wasn't working. I just got into work when I posted that. hehe
I can't even remember which engine I was thinking of now!

jcmunga, if you want to find out info, do a search. Both conversions have been covered many times. Search for "SR20 RWD" or something like that.

Anything the SR20 is capable of, the 1G is capable of.

It's just that the 1G doesn't sound like a tractor engine... Smile

sr20's sound like farting in a tin can. I much prefer the sound of a nice straight 6 anyday!

And I agree with you on the strength of internals also.

sr20 half cuts are a fair bit more expensive than a 1g also.

really, the only positive is the aftermarket bits. However, there are quite a few t04 single turbo 1g kits floating around these days so that solves that problem.

W3RD!

The 1G sounds like a Boeing from inside the cabin of my GZ, especially when the turbos are spooling up.

I loves me GZ

also less hassle by dickhead cops, i mean hey are dicks in the way that if they see a nissan tappet cover in a toyota they will instantly go, "hey, oink", but less chance if hey see toyota, even if its got 2 extra cylinders and a big turbo Confused

I have a 1g and they do sound like jet engines i've had more than a few ppl tell me this.
I don't know about nissan motors but i know you can get 400 hp out of a 1g with pretty much just bolt ons.

If you like revving a motor forget the SR The 1G will rev to 9000 all day the sr will rev to 9000 once and scatter their prehistoric rockers and lash cap shims all through the rocker cover .
