lagging speedo on 4age

i was drivin on the fwy and i have a habit of slowing down under bridges.
Anyway, when i step on the brake and car slows down, it takes a while for the speedo to reduce speed. So instead of slowing to 100, i end up at 90.
Suspect the same thing happens for accelerating as well. bring it to red line and clutch in on 2nd, speedo is still going up a little. Or maybe thats just the g force
Is it normal for speedos to lag?? Dont they work mechanically, connected to g/box or somethiing like that??

its still a spinning cable in a sleeve, i suppose if its dry it may catch inside and induse the lag effect ?
i dunno, but its a guess.

How do speedo cables work? Does the cable inside the sleeve just spin does it? If so, the tension from one side to the other (or whatever you call it) could easily cause that lag.

benny
the speedo cable may be loose.. so when the cable is losse the 100km cable spinning is lose .. and it makes the speedo think its doin 90km cos it is only picking up 90kms worth of the 100kms due to the slipping

If they have it. would be hard to find.
besides, i have to go above the recomended speed limit in just about any australian road to see if its lagging. Will just pull it out and look for loose bits.
And all this while i thought my brakes werent good coz speed wasnt goin down
