AE86 Sprinter Questions

Hi,
Thinking about buying a AE86 Sprinter and just need a few questions answered.
Are parts difficult to get your hands onto?
What do insurance companys think about them?
On HPI DVD's they are AE86 Sprinters constantly breaking driveshafts. Is that only becuase they are running insane horsepower and pretty much thrsahing them?
Any other info would be great.
Cheers

I think parts are getting pretty hard to find. Took me months to find some secondhand headlights.

Never had any trouble, but only have 3rd party property. What type of insurance you organising?

Parts are out there but you will pay a higher price as this car is getting rare and is a collectable now, forcing parts prices upwards.
Insurance is not a problem - the more stock you keep it the cheaper and easier it will be to insure it.
The T series rear end on a Sprinter/Celica/Corolla was never designed to withstand high horsepower/high torque engines so in standard form they will break behind your performance motor, in spirited driving.
There is plenty of info on this forum and other web pages about this car.

Is there a workshop manual out there for it?
Everyone said they came out with a 4AC engine. Is it easy to throw a 4AGE engine in?
Can you still order parts from Toyota (Body, headlight/tail lights etc.)
Is there any after market bodykits avaiable for it?
Cheers

A fair while ago I priced up a kit of front end parts from Toyota - from memory, it was:
2 headlights
2 guards
Bonnet
Bumper
Radiator
(I think that was it!)
came to around $6000...

Aus delivered model came out with a 4ac, 4age is pretty much a straight swap over bar a few things.
Can order stuff but be prepaired to pay enormous amounts ($600 for a petrol level sender also cant remember exactly but I think someone got quote $1800 for a quarter panel?), so there not cheap.
Plenty of bodykits out there.

Do you know at all how makes the manual.

sprinter = money
well just like most cars but a 4age corolla (ae71/ke70) is pretty much the same, just not as cool as a 2/3door
