What should I replace on an import engine + what's this sticker?

Hi guys/gals,
Firstly, can anyone read this and tell me what it means. An educated guess tells me it means my timing belt was replaced at 80,000 on the 13/10/1997. In which case the low km import engine I have is not really low km , or it has been sitting around doing nothing for a very long time

Now, what should I replace on this little fella? I'd rather spend a bit more money now than worry about pulling it out once it is in, but that said, I don't want to go over the top.

My current list is:
Timing belt
Welsh plugs
Rear main seal
Rocker cover gasket
Turbo manifold/dump/water-bypass gaskets
Water pump
Water pump gasket
Air con & alt belt
Water pump belt
Thermostat
Thermostat gasket
Oil and fuel filters
Timing belt cover gaskets
Intake/Exhaust manifold gaskets
All fuel and water hoses.
Newly added:
Cam seals
Front seals
Silver insulated hoses that go to and from the oil cooler
Clean and test injectors
Clean the ISCV and the TB
I was also thinking about replacing the idler pulley bearings, but they seem to spin pretty freely by hand.
Can anyone think of anything else, or a reason why I shouldn't replace something I have mentioned.
PS, I will drop pants for anyone telling me to search. I'm pretty sure a similar thread came around a couple of months ago, but the search offered no help finding this thread. I have also hand searched quite a few pages of the tech and coversions section.
Cheers,
Dave

BTW, looking at the list I only see the rear main seal, what about all the front ones?

Cam seals?
its amazing how much this will all cost you, I just did most of that stuff on my 1ggte and it quickly adds up even buyin at wholesale prices :/
But in saying that, I would rather spend the money now then have to pull it apart later
Good luck with the conversion.
ps. yeah educated guess would say that is timing belt change, but change it anyway, you never know how long its been sitting.

I was tossing up whether to do the front ones or not, but they're a bit of a pain in the @rse so I was going to risk them . I'll add them to the list if you think that they're worth doing.
Also with the sticker, I'm more interested in knowing if that's a date on it and what is the date. Just trying to gauge the age of the engine for curiousity sake.
Cheers,
Dave

It's a little bit of a pain in the arse, but being methodical, even a complete dunce like me was able to do it on my 1GGTE.

Definately replace the silver insulated hoses that go to and from the oil cooler. They are a complete pain in the arse to get to unless the turbo is removed so do it while it's off.
The sticker, yeah it's a date the Japanese calerdar dates are written Year, Month, Day.

That stciker is dated 1997 and unless the engine has been sitting round since then the timing belt should need replacing again. At an average of say 15000km a yr even if the engine was in use for the next 6 yrs and lying around for a yr it would suggest that it's over due for another belt

Japanese don't tend to do that many km's a year, but yeah, I'd be changing it regardless. It's a lot easier when its out.

I can't remember seeing those hoses, where do they run to/from?
Off topic: Did you have to remove anything to get it up in to the engine bay, ie turbo, manifold etc. I'm hoping to do a trial fit this weekend and would like to keep as much on as possible to start getting the position right.

The hoses are in under the turbo and dump pipe, they connect to the bottom of the oil filter housing. They only cost a few bucks each but they really should be replaced while you've got access to them.
I had to remove the turbo and manifold to get my engine into the bay. Actually it may have gone in with the manifold but I don't think ti would be possible with the Turbo on. Then you really need to put the turbo and manifold on with the engine half one into the bay because it is a real pain to get to once the negine is mounted.

instead of buying all those seals individually i would recomend buying a complete gasket kit, rings and bearings and rebuild it not that hard and it will ensure the motor lasts for ages and be reliable

Yep, got the whole gasket kit, but not planning on pulling the head or sump off. I've got to draw the line somewhere

Seconded - this hose is a nightmare to change in the car. It's also killed more 3sgte's than anything else I can think of.

I was really struggling to find the part you were talking about in the EPC to order it. But then I remembered this write up http://www.mrtwo.net/mr2modproject/service/hfh/hfh .htm.
Will definately adding one of those to the list.
Got the quote back from toyota today, and even being looked after, it came to $1001.17, anyone got any lube I can borrow?
I think I'll start investigating some aftermarket parts...
