3TGTE Boost - How much can it handle?? Fri, 19 November 2004 08:31 Go to next message
I have a 3TGTE, the turbo on it is gay. Its got problems, I just pulled the motor out and ripped it off and I also have a T28 out of an S14 Siliva.
I am wondering how much boost a good condition CT20 can give out?? and depending on that I might buy another or have mine reco-ed rather than fitting the T28??
Also does any one know how many RWkWs the stock injectors are good for?? and if they are no good for 150RWkWs then does any one have any that are and that will fit it??

If your target is 150rwkw, do yourself a favour and fit the T28. The CT20 won't do it in a screaming fit Cool

Stock injectors are 295cc. 7MGTE injectors make for a good upgrade.

Cheers
Phil

The injectors will fit the rail perfectly, not sure if the injector plugs are exactly the same though, but thats an easy fix.

I can't say for sure how much power you could potentially make before the stock injectors run out of duty cycle, as I never pushed them that hard before upgrading. Depends on your rail pressure also.

I would have to say that the poor turbo would explode itself running 30psi, let alone everything else...

A stock 3T GTE puts out 160hp, the limit of stock injectors is around 200hp. The CT20 is good up to about 12psi, over that and its making too much heat.

I currently have a GT25 (320hp) running 14psi on stock pistons without any trouble. getting 145kw at the wheels. My ijectors are 440cc. I think the 13B ones are 550cc.

The stock ECU is also good to around 200hp, but tuning is limited and you are better with an aftermarket system.

My mate has a high flowed CT20 running at 18psi and getting 135rwkw, thats the best result I know of from a stock turbo.

I'm going to increase boost again shortly to test teh stock pistons to the limit, I reckon they are good up to 18psi and then tuning needs to be spot on or else they will fail most likely on the landing ring.

Cheers,
Simon

good idea!! wind that boostup ....dont be weak!!

145RWkWs sounds pretty good, I'm hoping for more but Id love to know how much the stock internals can take before they melt. The turbo I'm putting on should be good for 18psi so i should have enough to push the internals pretty hard

Let us know how your boosting goes...
