Greetings to all,

I'm a brand new member so be gentle Razz

I've got a TA-22 with a chopped top (Truly a thing of beauty, I'm recieving compliments despite the fact the paint job is cracking and orange peeled) But the time has come for me to seek advice from those who know what they're doing bcoz mechanicals are not my bag baby. Laughing

I need the right exhaust note for my beloved cruiser. With her stock 2T and pipes she has the looks of a mustang and the voice of me granny's corona. And while I'm sure the corona is a fine car, my baby needs some rumble. So the big question while similar to a previous thread is slightly different.

Is there an engine out there (preferably something with 6) that'll go into a TA-22 nicely, and give a sweet rumble with the right pipes? This isnt a quest for power, just the right noise for a cruiser. Thanking ya'll for ur time.

P.S. Just quickly, I refuse to rice boy her. Most advice I've recieved elsewhere is to put a paintcan sized exhaust tip on her, and I just cant do it to such a beautiful shape. Max exhaust size is 2 3/4 inch, although twin exhaust is a possibility (tho pointless on 4 cylinders I believe).

You're going to struggle to get a six cylinder engine in a TA22 engine bay, but if you really want to it can be done. I used to have a 2T-G in my old TA22 and it had a nice throaty burble with a straight-through exhaust system; perhaps that might work for you? Definitely easier than trying to squeeze a six in there!

If you are just after sound get extractors with a 2 inch system all the way through with only a small muffler right at the end. This is what i have on my 2t and it sounds great, very loud though.
If you are after more power go with the 2tg

I've got extractors on 2 of my 18R's with a 2" exhaust. On one it's extremly loud and the other is pretty quiet compaired. (I think that's cause the previous owner welded the exhaust to the brakets and it vibrates through the whole car) Get a muffler specifically designed to make the car sound good and then everyone will turn their heads as you drive past. Laughing Thanx ya'll this is excellent help !!

BTW I'm willing to try something a little unconventional with the powerplant, so if u've got any "well it could work..." theories then chuck them on, because I'm not sure what im gonna try yet, and I like things a lil different from the norm Very Happy

Im currently thinking maybe a 2Tg (big nod to all who suggested) with possibly a twin exhaust (Yes I know twin pipes on a four cylinder is being naughty Razz ) but it'll help balance out the rear ends look and will make it something different. So I guess that just goes to show, no-matter how wacked ur idea may seem, let us know coz I'm insane enough to try it Evil or Very Mad

Right there been a few requests for pics... like I said before the paint jobs a horror and she's got a lot more work to be done b4 I'll be happy. But I'd be a right tool not to meet requests after uve all helped me out, so check out

It's a site I knocked together for a uni assignment very late at night with about 12 redbulls under my belt, so the humour is a little off the mark.

Thanx everyone, n keep the posts coming, ur deadset legends!!!

any T series engine (maybe 2T/3T hybrid)
any A series engine (maybe 20V with T/bodies)
