icon5.gif  Turns of Wheel Nuts? Sat, 20 November 2004 07:23 Go to next message
Hey guys,

Still working out things for brake conversion, and I want to know sooner, so I can't be arsed waiting for CrUZsida to ask Wink

How many turns of a wheel nut is considered safe? Is 7.5 sufficient? Trying to weigh up how much length is needed, and check the need for longer studs.

Thanks,
Nathan

For racing i would want 20mm with 15mm minimum. Thats about 10 to 14 turns at 1.5mm pitch.

Heh, this comes from two incidents. One driving in my SX when the front passenger wheel came off due to worn wheel nuts. And the other seeing a smacktard caning his prelude down the highway and then having a wheel rip off. When i got there you couldnt quite tell it was a Prelude.

Well I'm assuming Ed picked his studs up from a wrecker for nix. But, if I'm correct with this thread: http://forums.toymods.org.au/index.php?t=msg&t h=44988&rid=162&S=49ad7a55ebf0085e26568551 53deb526&pl_view=&start=0#msg_407417

The Cruiser ones would be 49mm compared to the 42mm for MA61 ones.

Or for the AE86 we have the huge 77mm Nice stud NS3400. Then we have the SW20 studs which i personally run on my car, which are about 45-50mm ish.

The NS3400 you can get from bursons and other places which stock "Nice" products. They are around $8 each retail.
The SW20 studs i get from Toyota and are $2.50 trade.
