Probaly cheaper to buy a brand new non-guine one. You still then have the otion of selling your old one

Guys,
I have a perfectly straight rear bumper from a TA22 there if anyone is chasing one. It has to be rechromed or painted tho as the chrome work has all faded and looks dodgy.
$50 and its yours.
Email me at rod@toymods.org.auor give me a buzz on 0416 181 284.

G'day Sean, I can highly recommend All Models Superchrome, 93-95 Malta st Villawood. Right next door to Micks Metalcraft. They're not cheap, I payed $200 to have a bumper straightened, and it would have cost another 100 or so to be chromed (but I painted mine) which is expensive, but better than being stuffed around for a bumper that doesn't exist.

Thanks. I may give those dudes a call. BigWorm, how bent was your bumper before you got it straightened?

Not very, it was a bit flattened, but actually looked pretty straight. That's why I bought the damn thing. I was a bit worried about how they were going to get the shape right, but I must say, they did a very good job. They actually send it off to some dude who does all the straightening, and looking at their card it seems they don't do the chroming either, so I'm not sure what they actally do.... besides charging a fair bit. The only reason my bumper doesn't seem to fit properly on close inspection is because the radiator support has been pushed back about 8mm (wow, a stack that wasn't my fault!). And it has already been pushed out a bit, just not enough.

If I can get front and rear bumbers for a ke30 Corolla there is no way you cant get I for a Celica. It cost approximately $100 for each. I got mine from a spray shop but know you can them for some bigger Toyota wreckers. Just ask them what non-genuine replacement parts you can get for your car. You'll find that you can get any replaceable panel, grilles and bumbers.

I'm not too sure about that mate, straight '23/8 series celica bumpers are bloody hard to find. Have a look at the next couple of celicas you see, and have a real close look at the bumper. Chances are, it will be slightly pushed in at the very middle, where it should come to a sorta 'point'. Or the ends of the bumper won't line up with the corner parking light.
Nearly every celica I've seen has been like this, including most of the celicas in toymods. If I was still looking for a bumper, I would definately give your idea a try, but I'm not, so hopefully someone else will and let us know what happens. It would be good if they were still manufactured, but I do doubt it.

I'll see if I can find who manufactures them. I would find it weird if they did Corollas but not Celica's

I took the bumper to the smash repairers next door to work today to see if they'd have a go at getting the dent out. It was the size of half a pea. Anyway, the chrome cracked in the process of knocking it out. They usually send bumpers somewhere to be re-crhomed and straightened. That'd cost me a fair bit. Probably a bit over $300. We looked at the Taiwanese bumpers, but the earliest Celica they listed was '81 RA40. I think these dudes may only do plastic though, since the didn't list earlier RA40's? I don't know when they switched to plastic bumpers.
Faulksy, if you could find out who does those bumpers, I'd be very interested. The guy at the smash repairs was looking in an Alto catalogue.
