howdy,
Im 15 and new to the forums(turned 15 yesterday ).
I was just wondering if any of the aussie spec RA23 celicas came with the better 18rg motor???
One of my references says the RA23R-MQ does but my other says it comes out with the 18rc. Can someone give any light on the subject.
Thanks in advance,
Warren

no aussie ones did - though many have been swapped over if your keen and look around .. theres a few for sale in our "for sale "" section atm i thinki
The 18rg is getting a shade long in the tooth but still are a strong little motor !
If you plan on getting a ra23 with an uprated motor - maybe start saving hard , and look at say a 1gge swap - turbo motors ( the 1ggte ) will be a pain on your P's depending on what state your in and youll get raped for insurance ( unless mum and dad help ) though for cruising + reliability - the 2 litre twin ccam 6 cyl 1gge is a good idea

oh and on a side note - if your into classic celicas - there is a club thats just started recently in melbourne that caters for oldschool celica enthusiasts ! PM me or browse thru the victorian section of these forums if you want more info - ill see what i can dig up
I has an oldschooler before my current GT4 ( a '1971 ta22 , with a 2t-B ) and believe me - for a first car they are heaps fun!
Im actually thinking of getting another in the near future

My brother has found one at a local wreaker. We are unsure about the motor though....got to check engine numbers . Its a twincam motor with twin 40ml webbers,extractors/exhaust and 5speed . Body is in great condition. But one let down is the huge sunroof that has been fitted
is the 18rc twincam??? (sorry about stupid question)
cheers,

woooohoooo, lucky me. Does 1500 bucks sound like a good price???? Considering webbers are worth around 500 bucks a pair with manifold

$1500 for the car, or just the engine?
$1500 for the car would be ok, $1500 for the engine would be fairly pricey, depending on its condition.

whole car... but im unsure if its a good runner. wreaker say that they have had it started but who knows, but we sort of know the guy (regulars to his wreaker because of datsun bits...). If i do buy it, the motor would come out for a freshen up anyway, (depending on old man/mechanics laziness )
