Im well and truly over people saying that the sss's walk around 100kw corolla's...
I really am.. They dont.. Infact.. they are very very very very close when they run together..
Ive owned BOTH those cars.
So i am talking from years of driving both.

i have also driven both....
was there something wrong with your sss?
personally i don't think either of them are fast! the sss does drive very nicely and gives an impression that it is moving that the corolla didn't.
that statement wasn't meant to give corollas a hard time... they were a much cheaper vehicle when made....
just a call from my own experience.
Cheers

I'm frequently lining my corolla up aginst a mate's sss and nxr coupe, with the same mods, and it's really close. I'm always in front on the change to 3rd which is when the sr20 starts coming back but by that stage we're doing around 130kays. Based on that I'd say there's verrrry little in it....and considering it's a 1.6L and was about 7 grand cheaper when new, the corollas are a very good machine...better for the money (when new) I'd say.

Sorry Guys I too have driven both Shezza's (Stew's lady friend)SSS and 100kw corollas including a 20v ae82.
None felt as quick or as rewarding to drive as the lowend grunt from the sr20. I am yet to drive an NA corolla that felt sporty on the throttle. I enjoyed the Pulsar.

The sss pulsar is 2litre putting out 105kw and the sx corolla is 1.6 litre putting out 100kw that gives the corolla far more power per litre and i don't think the sss would quite walk around a corolla

the sss put out 112kw...
but that wasn't the difference, it was the big slab of midrange that you can't see from a power figure.
cosidering that at the time it ran the quickest 1/4 for a front wheel drive 4 cylinder.... widly aclaimed not something i made up.... should point you in that direction. I think stock they were sposed to do 16 flat.
later.

I'd be up to see the race between Leigh and the Pulsar...
I will however say though that the 20V Rolla of Leigh's goes hard and keeps pulling...
That sounds rude doesn't it... Hehehe... ...
