Workshops / ideas - 3TGTE Mon, 22 November 2004 02:22 Go to next message
I have a ta23 celica with a 3TGTE, with a rebuild and some other mods including a haltech management system. I have recently purchased a CT20-B turbo, custom manifold, front mount cooler and am looking to get these parts fitted and the management system tuned in the sydney/newcastle area, can anyone reccomend a good workshop to do most of this for me?

I am also going to put in a bigger diff, can anyone reccomend ratio, type etc and a workshop to modify a spare diff housing that I have.

I am really trying to get this happening before christmas, so if anyone can give me any pointers and ideas of what to do or where to go i would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance
Mitch.

For the diff I'd recommend an MS112 Crown F-series with a 3.7:1 or 3.9:1 ratio. Chuck in a TrueTrac LSD centre and it will be sweet. Smile

There are 3t-gte engines around making around the 200rwkw mark with the standard throttle body. I don't think this needs upgrading.

thanks for the ideas guys, appreciate it.

Joel, why do you say it is not worth upgrading plenitum / throttle body? I thought you could get a bit of power out of changing these over?

Anyone know of any good workshops around the sydney / newcastle area that has done a good job or has experience with this sort of stuff?

thanks,
Mitch.

Mate I think a new plenum is a good idea, just don't think the throttle body needs to be any larger. I think it was Rod who put together some figures whic proved the standard sized throttle body was large enough for some pretty large kw numbers.

But if you do want to change it... Go for a Nissan item, RB20 maybe? I have one at home and it looks a nice size and advantage is the TPS is the variable type and not the switching style like the original 3T item. The variable resistance style one is needed for aftermarket ECU.

Cheers
Joel

Be very careful with who makes your plenum. A job like that you want done right.

I'd talk to YelloRolla on these forums. He knows his stuff.

Thanks for the info. appreciate it.

May not go for the bigger throttle body then, might have a talk to yellorolla then see what he has to say.

Thanks,
Mitch.
