hi all. i have found a pair of 17s for a nice price. now, b4 i hand over my hard earned dosh i want to ask the 'pros' a few questions.
has anyone ever had (or have atm) 17's on their ae92 corolla. i want to know if there are any issues with clearance and scraping that i will need to address?? any suspension changes necessary (i will be doin suspension a little later on when more $$$ becomes available, but atm i just want to know if the wheels will fit with the stock suspension)...
THANKS FOR ANY ADVICE/INFO

i got 17" speedy hyperfangs, they only scrape if you hit a big bump and turning a corner.
i have droped the car 1.5" i think it is with peddars sports ryder suspension and shocks. i still think the car sits a little high but its the stock setup from peddars.
handles very nice too.

i've got 17x7 5Zigen wheels on my '90 Seca SX and lowered the car 1 1/4 all round and have no problem with scrubbing at all. no lipping of guards needed.

lob about 10 bags of cement in the boot
If you want a proper job take it to a suspension specialist and get them to talk you thru what you want from the car handling/looks ect they will then be able to give you a shock/spring combo that will meet your needs

i know a guy from brisbane with a ae92 corolla same colour as mine etc... he has 17inch rims with low profile tyres and GTI corolla springs lowered exactly 2.0"inches and has no problem with cornering except if he has like 5 big people in the car otherwise its fine.. the GTI springs also provide a smooth ride through corners and bumps so you can go as low as 2 inches if you want.. and trust me .. it looks frucking good..!!!!

For sure i'll be going to a suspension specialist. sounds like a very good idea.
got any brand suggestions that are good but?? pedders? koni? king?
and 2", is that considered to be pretty low is it?? i got no idea....maybe i do need to do that cement trick, just to see how low it really is..
i have 15s on it atm.

steve,
i've recently been asking around places about shocks too, and the general trend is koni for shocks, and king springs for springs.
i ended up going for kmac springs though (it's a work discount).
be sure to replace the bushes. nolathane perhaps?

I went to peddars and asked for the best package for the ae92, they gave me a spring and shock setup sports ryder equipment lowered 1.5 inches. Supposably this is the safest and they dont go any lower. Any lower and you start having problems.
Although i have seen other corollas that sit alot lower.

it was 1100 for the setup and the ride is unbelievable
i mean my original springs were pretty shot and was impressed with the new setup.
next addition will maybe be front and rear sway bars.

Dude, that setup ya got, the sports ryder, are they adjustable???
is adjustable an advantage??? i wouldnt think it would be . once you have it set for what ya want, you'd probly leave it, so no use....
Whats the go with front and rear sway bars?? they just help stiffen the car a bit more??

yea i got the sports ryder stuff, dont think they are adjustable.
i dont know the full specs on what they do but like they help over steer and understeer or somthing
dad put them on his 98 verada and it just made it sit firmer on the road and handle well into corners.
