ke11 lsd rear axle? Mon, 22 November 2004 09:16 Go to next message
i want to put an lsd rear end on my ke11,

what kind of axle can i use that wont be too wide? i read somewhere before that an old skyline axle can be used if its narrowed on one side as its got unequal length shafts?

i have a few ae86 lsd axles at home in ireland, could one of these be narrowed to fit if the shafts can be resplined

or how about a hi-lux axle? can they be narrowed?

talk to a diff shop, as they will be the ones doing the shortening.

i can shorten the casing myself as i am a welder, i need to know what kind of half shafts have enough metal on them to be resplined after cutting the ends off.

Well if you're a richer man than I you can always get some axles MADE, but then if you've got that much cash, can I be your new best buddy??

you would want to be more concerned about the size of the ke11 axles rather than the actual diff centre!

what sort of power are you planning on making? if you are still using a k series motor you could get away with just locking the standard centre

it you plan on making 200kw then you would want a hilux

If I had a few ae86 lsd's sitting around anywere ,i'd sell them and with the ridicolous amounts of cash these things seem to pull , I'd shorten an F or a G and throw in a gze for good measure. Times a few x $2000 and you have a healthy budget

Do you have a photo of a KE11?? I've seen most of those early corolas and cant get enough of 'em.

It sounds like you'd be best of buying a whole drum-to-drum (or disc-to-disc) diff with LSD center then worrying about fitting to the car.....trying to shorten and re-spline axles will send anyone broke.

there is a link to photos of the car in the for sale section as i only bought it a week ago.

i have 3 ae86 axles, one from an 87 model complete with disks, one from an 84 model with the smaller size spline on the half shafts and no brakes and one with a quaife automatic torque biasing differential that i kept from my ke35 before i sold it...... but they are all in my garage at home in ireland, it would probably be cheaper to buy an axle in this country than to get one of mine sent out here, they are a crappy diff anyway(except the quaife)

i would eventually like to put a gze in it, i had an ae86 with a gze a few years ago.

i spoke to a diff shop yesterday and they tell me that the 28 spline nissan axles can be shortened and resplined if i get two long ones from one side i will have enough metal, they also tell me i just need a complete rear axle from a pintara and the lsd centre will fit from a post 92 commodore of falcon

got an lsd centre from a commodore today for 180 and i can get a pintara axle from disk to disk for 160 but im going to pull the shafts first to count the splines.

it will cost 165 per side to get the shafts shortened and resplined.

but then i have to get the pcd changed to fit the 4 lug wheels, the pintara/skyline axle comes with disks and the 114 pattern so i just need to change my front hubs to ke30 or ke70 ones.

im told the hilux diff is too big and heavy for a ke11

Run a F series talk to some of the celica guys but you could pull a disc brake Corana Mark 2 F seruies rear end out and it will have the 4 stud pattern you need
