ae71 to ae86 engine wire conversion (loom?)

i have dropped a ae71 4ac into the sprinter (thanks to sab and friends) but a little problem with the engine wires (the loom?)
anyways just want to know if anyone can help me with which wire connects up? of is there a manual somewhere that i havent found?

There's only about 3 wires, it's probably easier to just spend 2 minutes with a test light/multimeter than to even try and read a diagram...

Those wires are from memory
- Water temp sensor (basically a resistor to ground)
- Oil pressure sensor (also resistor to ground)
- Gearbox reverse light (two wire - shorts when in reverse)
- Starter motor trigger
So as Shinny said, just mess with them til they work. Turn ignition on then see which wires affect what on your dash then plug them up.

PS, from the colours in your pic I say the top two red/blue wires are reverse, the middle black wire is starter, and the two yellow wires are oil and water, unsure of which way round.

yea, they all seem pretty much stright forwards besides the blue and red wires on the sprinter part its red primary with blue and blue primary with red, on the ae71 its red with black lines and red with blue lines

I think I've got both of those 'looms' kicking around in a box of junk somewhere, but it'd probably take me longer to find them than to just sort the wires out

Those are the reverse wires, they just get shorted together in reverse. You can't get them round the wrong way.
Or if you are in doubt, just play around with them until everything works fine. The worst you'll do is blow a fuse.
