Hello
In january I am going to Taipei, in Taiwan. Will I be able to buy car stereos and other cool electronics over there for cheap? Or is a lot of it fake over there?
Has anyone been there? Please tell of your shopping experiences. And anything else I should look out for.

Lots of fake stuff over there and not a whole lot of good car gear.
Go to Ministry of Sound in Taipei (near the big ferris wheel thingy) its f'cking awesome!
Go to the Shallin night markets and you'll find heaps of cheap stuff... whatever the merchant quotes you offer him about half and then barter your way up to about 2/3rds of the original price.
Check out your local "Barbershop" while you're there too!

You will find some real stuff but not really in the night markets etc. where it is hell cheap.
Most of the "real" electronics was about 20% cheaper than AUD prices and came from proper electronics stores... there was very little room for negotiation and upon checking at about 10-15 similar stores they were all within a few bucks of each other.
Most stores in Taiwan are open until 10-11PM minimum and its good to go shopping at night!
Search google for "Barbershop Taiwan" or similar and you'll find out about the barbershops. They aren't she-male related or anything majorly sus like that.
Watch out for your wallet etc. when walking around the night markets and other busy places... pick pockets around apparently.
Nothing as bad as Shenzhen in China though... get through customs and grandma tries to steal your luggage while everyone else begs from you!
Don't give anyone anything EVER!
PS They don't like it when you use their collection plate as an ashtray
