MA61 Spot/FogLights

What colour to do MA61 Spot/FogLights?
I currently have one yellow globe, and the other one is smashed, so I need to replace at least one.
Now, do I get 2 yellow globes and have foglights?
2 white globes and have spotlights?
or 2 red/blue/green globes and have rice lights?
Keep in mind this is purely for show, as its illegal to use any of them on the road in WA (3 points, $150).
(You can obviously use yellow, but only in fog).
(White can obviously be used too, but only in the same form you used hi-beams, ie, not while anyone else is around)
Thoughts?

3 points and $150!??!
boy they must really want to do ya for something if they pull ya over for that.
don't they come standard on the car?? why so illegal?
I find the verybright gay red light on the back of some excels VERY distracting.. so much more than the lights on the front of ure car.

Thats the reason, so many cars come with them factory, and idiodic drivers leave them on.
Its VERY annoying to have a Liberty coming at you with foglights ablaze, and the owner completely oblivious.

Wash your mouth out with soap !!! Rice and a Supra
From what I have seen, they are not much use as a spot light anyway, so go for yellow and use them as fogs.

I think I have driven through fog about 3 times in perth.
So yellow ones are useless.
As you said, the are nearly useless as spotlights, so white is pointless.
Hence the rice option...

OK, so fog lights are useless, rice lights are obviously not an option , so I vote driving lights (which you incorrectly call spotlights). As noted they're not particularly useful for that purpose, but with decent globes in them (eg halogen) they'd probably be much better.

Will take the globes out and see what Hella/Narva have on offer.

I have 3 different Lens, 1x Yellow (Fog), 1x White Fog & 1x Aust. High Light Lens.
I prefer the white foglights as I have rewired (and aim) them to the parking lights
That's my 2 cents...
Cheers.

I like the yellow fog lights
But I only use them in fog, or if someone wants to see them on
I hate all these new commonwhores and liberty's with their fog lights ALWAYS on and blinding everyone. They need baseball bat theropy!

Haven't chosen anything, its fairly low on the list of things to do.
I currently have one yellow fog light globe, and a smashed one.
So they need replacing anyway.
Will decide at a later date.

boxh34d wrote on Thu, 25 November 2004 09:26 | just a thought:
if they were rewired to the park light circuit, they could be used as 'city lights'. . . put some half decent ( 55W or something ) globes in them, and use them when just cruising up to the shops of a night time, to avoid putting the pop ups up.
not sure about the legality though.
---edit---
not like subarus and such that blind people, just normal globes like headlights.
|
this would be illegal (and fuken irritating):
-the lenses/reflector in the lamps don't cast the beam down towards the road only (like a proper fog lamp should)
-spot lights (or any other forward-facing flood lamps) should only come on with headlights on high beam
headlights on low beam are designed to minimise glare for oncoming traffic - if they're aimed too high - adjust them...
opinion: it should be legal to run cars off the road for driving around the city in traffic with those stupid 'driving' lamps on - they piss me off no end and am sure many of youz with low-slung seating/cars get the unwanted glare. grrr
