LIMSLIP 140
Heavy limited slip gear oil with the same performance as Limslip SAE 90. Suitable for units in some heavy commercial vehicles.
LIMSLIP 90
Limited slip differential oil for vehicles in standard on-road use in ambient temperatures of below 30ºC. Surpasses API GL-5 requirements and the obsolete API GL-6. Contains an initial fill level of limited slip additive
and since we live in australia where the temp gets to over 30 degrees i went for the 140

I would second the 140 , have been using it for along time .
It sure is thick stuff i normally hear one click due the the sticking of the pinion and ring gear when moving the car after a cold night .
But once underway 5mins late the diff is nice and quite , has also been apart for a inspection and all is fine . Remember the F series diff carrier is not that large so will heat up much faster than my 4.5 litre diff .
There is a 90-140 Shell special transaxle / diff oil which is also good , but very hard to get , and costs like $50 a litre .

Hmm, maybe I should reconsider the Castrol LSX90 that I've been using in my F series LSD, considering Canberra's summer temps.

Castrol SA-FX - fully synthetic, and I used it in my cct car and never had an issue. It is 140 weight as well, and is recommended for JZA80 Supras too.

DO NOT USE 140 weight oil in a gearbox designed for 90 weight oil!
Unless you want your diff to overheat from oil cavitation that is!
75W/90 API GL5 suits most toyota diffs and it would be best to stick to it!
Go the full synthetic gearbox oil if you want to put better oil in your gearbox.

Even the Hiace, Liteace, Dyna, Hilux, Landcruiser, Bundera and almost all of the Hino trucks use 75W/90 gearbox oil. Even the bloody forklifts use 75W/90!
Even most Mack truck gearboxes recommend 75W/90 or 85W/90
Examples of vehicles which recommend 140 weight oil are:
Western Star:
-Eaton
-Meritor
-Dana
-Sizu
some use TC50
Scania
-Almost all models some use TC50
Isuzu
-Almost all models some use TC50
Kenworth
-Several models, most use TC50
M.A.N.
-Several models, some use 85W/90 others use TC50
So unless your "5pr!n74h iz f00ly w3rked" and you have done a Western Star gearbox and diff conversion you shouldn't be running 140 weight gearbox oils!

Toobs,
He is talking about the diff, but your point is taken.
The stuff that I mentioned is suitable/recommended for the DIFF in a JZA80, and that has a Torsen centre, and from my past experience, will definitely use it myself.
The same point that Toobs makes IS important for engines as well.

I can't find anything on what the manufacturers specs on the mark 4 diff are but the mark 3 uses LS90 in the diff and 75W/90 in the gearbox.

penrite limslip 85w140 is the right oil to use. I use it in the ma61, ma70 and fairmont ghia's LSD's and they all work beautiful on it.
