st184 box onto 3sge on st162

hi guys
I want to put a ST184 box onto my ST162 with 3sge.
will the standard ST162 drive shafts be OK or do I have to get custom ones or can I use the ST184 drive shafts.
I tried the search but couldnt get a definate answer on this. any help to resolve this issue would be great.

Hey Karl,
Any idea what the gearbox code is for the ST184 box?
It would make sense that all the gearboxes that bolt up to FWD S-series engines are interchangeable, but who can say for sure.
I do know that when Rob installed the gearbox from an ST202 in his ST162, everything mated up fine and the driveshafts slid right in with no probs. So hopefully an ST184 box would do the same.
Guess there's only one way to find out for sure, huh? Good luck man.

I havent actually acquired the box yet, but will do very soon.
I know the box will bolt on fine, however my main concern is that I dont want to cutom make CV shafts, if I can use the 162 or the 184 shafts would save me a lot o time and dosh.
where are the codes for the box located so to keep an eye on which box to buy?.
anyone?

Your driveshafts will be fine...though your acceleration will suffer (ST184 box has longer diff ratio) and you'll notice some fairly large gaps between gear changes.
