 eeep! Got pulled over coming home at 3:45am after work last night... Apparently the cop saw me take off up Market St in the city, so gave chase.. he caught up to me when i stopped for an orange light after Anzac Bridge (that's usually a good 5 minutes or so drive). He said he would've loved to book me, except he couldn't verify my speed as he hadn't been able to catch up!! (he told me he'd been going 120 across Anzac bridge  )
So after a stern lecture, a license check/breathalyser, and then another very stern lecture, i was free to go.. Think i'm going to be sticking religiously to the speed limit for quite some time to come after that little episode.. I always think that i'm going to see them if there's any Police around, but i guess you never can be sure...
Anyone know if this is likely to be a black mark against my license plate? ie - will cops in the city start pulling me over at random and shit?

nah they only usually pull you over when they are local cops and always see your car going around, my brother when he had my car got pulled over 8 times in the first week he got his license by the same cop and everytime he just asked for his license to check he had it on him.

Wow i just got home from my first defect tonite 
Seriously ....if your polite....they let u off with alot...
Defects: No front bumper (still fixing bus damage...finishing tomrorow definetely now !!!)
Park lights emmit blue light (Rub off blue ink yeah shutup already)
Exhaust leaking (putty !!)
No fines, no points...no worries 
Alot of cops are nice if your polite
im on my P's, ethnic and ive been pulled over 3 times now and havent had an asshole cop yet...all due to my humble manners.
But im confused now as to what to do with the defect.....after i fix it all up what do i do ???......where do i take my car and defect notice ??
PS: (Leaking oil is defectable)

If you are an asshole to them, they will be an asshole to you... I.E. - Pull you over just to have a chat and to check your licence... They will sometimes even go to the extremes of searching your car completely, even ripping up the carpet...
To clear a defect, you have to go to a place that does blue slips and get to check that the vehicle has met the standards required and get them to fill out and sign the sheet... Then you take the defect notice to the RTA to get it cleared... Easy!!!

yes.
I got defected for a headlight out.
1 just fix it.
2 take it to an auto repair, they will check the defect is fixed and sign you a defect pass form (or something like that)
3 take this form to the RTA and they will clear the defect up for you and give you another form saying (defect fixed)
4 RTA updates database.
5 finished 
to all the cops out there, and RTA defect inspectors

being pulled over speed sure slowes ya down! i gott pulled of the day after the city cruise( a good two months ago) and i have been doing the limit since
just more aware of the speed im doing

Been a P plater for 2 years and have yet to be pulled over by a cop. I'm so lucky cause my cars have been a long way from road worthy.
When I got my Celica I though I would be because it's bright blue and has got a very loud exhaust (Doesn't really blend in to the croud too well) But nothing. Only one booze bus.
