Ring repco, dizzy caps should be the same for all 4age's, who told you the jap one is unique?
If that fails, you can always buy my old one (with dizzy) for 300 and I'll throw in a complete engine

Thats like a fuel pump for the AW11's they want $900 for a "supercharger" fuel pump and $300 odd (still a rip off) for an NA pump.
But wait a minute... Same exact part number
Dodgy fuckers.

went there today. they said to bring my dizzy cap off n try matching it as there were 2 different caps fr 4age.
problem is i drove my car there and cant get cap off without removing the whole dizzy, or get my hands burnt by extractors.
ae82 n ae92 dizzy spins different direction i was told. have a fren gettin one fr me tomorrow if theres stock. urgently need one coz dyno on sat!!

Sounds like parts for lexus vs toyota. Same part but $$$ difference. Pays to know what interchanges. Perhaps a database should be started of interchange parts and their applications, if someone told me how best to write it I'd gladly put in the time.

It should be a little bolt on either side, and pretty easy to get to.

No it's not, it's my engine
Anyways, you don't have to take the shield off of it to get the dizzy cap off. I can't remember what the head of the bolts/screws are like, but you should be able to get them off with a socket and extension, or a spanner, or if they're made for a screwdriver, one of them .
If you don't have the right length extension, I think it would be ten times easier borrowing one off of a mate than buggering around with that shield.
