Which is better? 4AGE or 3SGE?

Just a quickie, the 4AGE = 100kw and the 3SGE = 103kw right?
the 4AGE = RWD
the 3SGE = FWD
Just thinking, which of the two motors are better in performance, i think they should be abouts dead equal in some way.

sounds like someone with a RWD 4A-GE said they could beat u in a race.
many factors will determine the outcome
all things being equal 3S-GE > 4A-GE

well I think there would be more (power) losses in the driveline on the RWD model.. using uni joints and such instead of CV's.
but RWD is so much more fun

square 3S 2.0 liter engine / 103kw
vs
4A 1.6 liter engine / 100kw
as per power per liter is say the 4a is much better
but as for all round performance value is say the 3S is the more advanced larger capacity engine and provides larger returns for money when tuned.

I'm assuming the 4A-GE is in a Sprinter.
Drag: 3S-GE ST162 should win
Most anything else, especialy anything with corners or anything that doesn't rely heavily on a good launch: 4A-GE AE86 should win. Once it's in it's power band I imagine the engines should do similar things as far as putting down numbers. And the ST162 is heavier and FWD.

but remember a 4A-GE in a KE10 will be a different story
alliance, there are lots of determining factors, you havent really given us much info on what you want to know so its hard to answer your question

Lol the 3sge all dah wayyy... I raced a 4age 100kw seca... Killed it by a car length and mine is a stock... And the seca had a pod filter and a exhaust...

i dragged my friend's 3sge ST162, the only mod on it is the filter.
i have a early jap 4age(rwd) in my sprinter, has filter, and full exhaust.
the 4age was slightly faster till the end of 2nd gear...

the next step up - 3sgte Vs 4agze
Gt4 Vs Mr2
Gt4 Wins - hands down up , and to the side of the head
as for the NA debate - horses for courses , both are great motors , 4ag likes to rev a little more free in stock form ..
3sge has an extra 400 CC capcity + doesnt rev as much ( unless in beams variety )
Both tuned - 3sge *should* see the lead due to cubes + power down

In standard form the AW11 MR2 (4AGZE) should beat the standard ST165 and ST185 (3SGTE) in a quarter mile sprint but will not beat the Turbo SW20 MR2 (3SGTE) as the SW20 is significantly lighter than the GT4.
Times for the 3 cars over the quarter mile in most tests seem to average roughly
AW11 SC 15.0-15.5
ST165/st185 15.4-15.8
SW20 turbo 13.8-14.7
Of course driving around a track is more reliant on driver skill than quarter mile performance.
When it comes to modifying these cars the 3sgte probably has the edge as it is capable of producing truley massive horsepower with big dollars at your disposal.
