why wouldn't you just use a 1jz. I thoght about this when I got my car but only a rb25de, now i can't be arsed as my car will be parked at a station next year so will just leave it how it is and save for another car.

Also before my uncle sold the car to me he had a 302 windosr measured up and was thinking of putting it in he had talked to an engineer and it would have fitted. Only prob would be the length being a straight six but a 1ggte fits in so you could do some rough measurements to work out if its possible. Only prob would be that the car would be an absolute bitch to drive as the car has severe traction issue in the wet when stock so with a half decent motor if not great motor like you propose would be an absolute nightmare. you would also have to weigh up other costs, better suspension diff, gearbox etc etc etc in the end it would cost a motsa to do even with a free engine.
A 7mgte is supposed to fit according to the tech docs so I'd say its possible

yeah looked into the other parts aswell such as the brakes and all.. and its all in my budget range. if i go auto it'll be much cheaper than going manual, unless it gets matched up to a R32 box.

if it can be done, its gonna get done.

A 7M also fits very nicely on the end of a chain to stop an ocean liner from slipping off into the harbour...

yeah but a 170kw enigne in a car that weighs 1080kg makes it less of a boat anchor, and anything is an improvement on the 2sc and wouldn't wiegh that much more than my 22re

what would be the best brake upgrade for this conversion...?
problem i can see is that the 2SC is a rear sump, and the RB is a front sump, so that will need modding.

obviously engine mounts, crossmenber, suspension, driveline...
and my guess is that because RB25DET is straight six, there will be an issue with the radiator fitment.

1G is a fairly tight fit (I've seen it) and an RB engine is quite a bit bigger, so you're going to have a tough time making it fit. Anything is possible but if you're just looking for a new home for the engine, find another car with more room. There are plenty of six cylinder cars that can be bought for next to nothing.

Just sell the RB25 to a fulsic VL owner (like me) and buy something that will fit better. Rb25's are worth more cause they are RB25's, if you put an RB25 into anything other than a VL then it aint worth it...

the only reason i'm even considering it, is because the 2SC is well and truly on its way out (i think the trans will give up first though) and my mate has this RB25 sitting at his place, and is willing to have a muck around with a conversion. He's a mechanic, and he reckons that it will fit... Confused
i dunno, but when the old engine/trans gives up, i'll see what happens.
