Interested to know if -
Is it possible to run the factory ecu with a manual box, and has anyone here actually done it? if it can, does VVT effect this equation?
Does any company have pre made extractors for this motor?
How much power gain will the factory ecu support before it needs to be replaced?
does the vvt 1U come with stainless extractors like the VVT 2JGE?
any answers etc apreciated.
cheers

Dong,
Cruizda is running a manual 1uz, but using a microtech. Speed senor is the main problem im led to beleive, although Giant Tomato 'may' be running the stock ecu i think.
The extractors will have to be cutom made to fit a ma61/mz10 engine bay anyway....Cruzida's are custom jobies.
Just buy a 3uz.

GT is running stock ecu with auto trans
he has the particular 1UZ (sans VVti) that have a separate ECU for the transmission
i'd guess thats the one you'd want to run the manual box with to reduce wiring hassles.

Mick, you can run the stock ECU sans auto no probs. Heaps of people on Lextreme have. If you get a Crown Royal Saloon (UZS131) halfcut it has separate ECUs for the engine and auto trans. Simply delete the auto trans ECU.
I'm just running stock ECU and auto trans.

expect extractors to be restrictive even if stainless (though i think its mild steel)...
many people have run stock ecu with manual box be it soarer, celsior, or crown engine....
im about to run mine with a v160 6 speed using the stock ecu for awhile till i go TT.
as for vvti, i don't think anyone's run a manual box behind those ones with the stock ecu yet....
if anything, ask "sideshow" as he's pretty learned about this topic.
