celica confusion and soarer dissapointment

Well i went and had a look at a very clean 2l twin turbo soarer (86 model) the other day, and I have to say it was extremely dissapointing. The paintwork was exceptionally easy to makr and the car was ooohh so slow, especially for a 6 cyl relying on twin turbos. my moms xtrail is faster. still its a fairly nice car.
anyway I have decided maybe a cheaper celica is better and more reliable for the moment, so Im looking around at them
All these model names confuse me though. eg st162, st165, st184r etc etc. and the motors. is the 2 liter 3sge in the st162 faster than the 2.2 in the later model celicas? which st162 has the 3sge?. is there anything else I should know about celicas? How will a 3sge st162 go in a straight line in comparison with a sr20de silvia s13?
thanks

OOff topic but we've had an xtrail for 11 mths now and don't you love how much room is above the exhaust manifold and it's on the front side of the engine as well. Once ot's out of warranty, turbo here we go.

all your info in this link!
u'll see how a 162 perform against
Lancers
Hondas
Silvias
etc..
have fun
BTW: Disregard how i lost to a lancer, purely driving ability!!.
And fast facts are:
1985-1989 Celica SX:
3S-GE 103KW @6400rpm (i think at that rpm) (Non camry engine)
1160KG
0-100km in 9.6 seconds for a stocker not clutch dumping
0-100km fastest for my friend recorded for 8.5 sec
1985-1989 Celica ST:
3S-FE 78?kw (camry engine)
1160KG
0-100km in over 12sec?
1989-1993 Celica SX/ST:
5S-FE 100Kw @ 6400rpm (Camry engine)
1300+KG
0-100km in 10-11sec (Sometimes even with a ST162)
ALSO if you wanna go hardcore, you can get:
1986-1989
Celica GT4 ST165
3S-GTE Turbo motor with 130KW+ engine
1200KG (More i think, cant remember)
0-100km in the 6-7 sec bracket i think....
other fellaz will fill u in!

if you can find an st165 check em out, haven't seen any around yet. they would be a little bit heavier than a 162 due to the AWD. also i think they can come with climate control and much better front seats with a leather trim amongst other things.

i don't see how you can say that a gz20 soarer is slow compared to a st162. I used to own a gz20 and i know they aren't the quickest thing but once they get moving they accelerate pretty well. I think the 0-100 times would be pretty similar to the 162 however, from a roll I would put my money on a gz20 anyday. I found them a bit laggy which doesn't help getting it off the line but once on boost it was pretty good.
and come on,
soarer
or
celica
You know you want the street cred!
