Take a lok at http://www.myclassictoyota.com they have a fairly extensive listing of the old Corollas. It's not Australian so some of those cars aren't available but damn I'd like a TE-27.

later ke30s/ke55s - people give 'em away, but damn they love the abuse and spare parts cost no more than a few minutes up the backyard with a toolkit (my backyard anyways!)

The old KE70 makes a slick little sleeper too.

Yeah I originally bought an ae71 for my project car, but then ended up with a cheap ae86, and couldn't help myself...

Mr Shin's right,
You can't go past KE30 to KE55, while earlier and later models also offer a lot...the KE30 to KE55 offer excellent price and availability of parts. You can also do a relatively easy engine upgrade to a 5K or 7K, providing a helluva good power to weight ratio...

Blacki...You're dead right!
There are more than a few people in the ACT who have learnt the hard way just what a sleeper my KE70 is....
As for the question...anything other than FWD (for obvious reasons) is fine!
