Does anybody else suffer soggy carpets in the drivers footwell after heavy rain? Is it just my car or is it a design problem of the 98 seca hatch... where does it get in, I'm going nuts

on most cars there is a rubber grommet in each footwell
check to see if yours is still there

Thanks for that, but I'm pretty sure it's coming from above i.e. dash/firewall or maybe the vents (?) because it only happens in v. heavy downpour whilst the car is stationary, it's not coming from underneath. I thought maybe other people have a similar problem...

I never had a problem in the 4 months that I owned an ae101 seca. I did know of an ST141 with a similar problem though - my sister went through 4 street directories because of it! We never fixed it and just assumed it was due to rust somewhere - not likely to be the case on your car though.
Good Luck

i think perhaps your windscreen seals have worn away where the water runs down the windscreen and out on 2 the road and therefore creating a little hole and thats why the water is only coming in on heavy down poor when the water is just gushing.
