hey guys, I'm starting an apprenticeship as a landscaper and as a result I'm getting a 90 something hilux with a 22re, however i was planning on starting a bit of track and drift work, just as a fun thing, and was wondering what would need to be done to a lux to get it to handle perform etc, thanks for all your help,oh also, im just looking for a bit of helpful advice, not hours of criticism and comments saying its a work horse and ur an idiot, its just an idea, oh and how hard is it to convert the 22re to efi (from corona/ celica)
once again cheers for you help
Adrian

the 22re engine came out in the usa with a t between the r and e resulting in a 22rte which is a 2.4 efi turbo torque monster
these engines are not rev friendly from my experience and die around the 4600 mark
seriosuly your better off saving for soemthing like a 1ggte which has 2 more cylinders 2 turbos is 4 valves ber cylinder and twin cam if i remember correctly
even a 1/2jzgte should fit and maybe even a 1uzfe quad cam 32 valve v8 that by using the cranks etc out of the 2/3uzfe can be brought up from 4 litre to about 5.3 litre
