Hey all, i'm planning on doing my first Mod (Not including the ones on it already when i bought the car )
The first mod i wanna do is to upgrade my brakes. Anyone have any suggestions on what type / brand is best for performance? as i will be taking my 162 to the tracks sometime in the near future.
Thanks
CK

ST165 brakes are not going to be readily available from any where in Australia. With about only 9700 of this model ever made and less than 100 ever likely to be second hand imported into OZ, they will remain a very rare model.
If you want to upgrade your brakes look at your wallet and what you have now. If the rotors are still OK (thickness wise) get a set of better pads, not Bendix, but Endless, Pagid, EBC Greenstuff etc. Call up the performance shops and see what they can sell you for your car. Never buy any Ferodo stuff - ever.
If you need to keep the rotor size to fit inside your current rims, replace your rotor's with new slotted (not drilled) ones.
If you have larger rims and can fit larger brakes behind them, look at an upgrade using local parts that can be supported in the future.
For example, I understand that ST184 (FWD) front rotors will fit your hubs and are 20mm greater diameter than your current ones. You will need ST184 calipers as well, for these larger rotors.
Similarly, while 184 rear rotors are the same as 162 rears, ST185 (AWD) rear rotors are 20mm bigger as well. Again you will need the calipers to suit, 185 rear's, in this case.
Both these newer models were sold in Australia and so you will find aftermarket and failing that, Toyota genuine support for them.
