i can't help out here - but can you take some pics as you go?

at a guess, it's probably a similar excercise to 4AGE or 1J engines. differences will be in how the tensioner works and the right way of re-installing the tensioner.

having bore/after pics will help if you stuff it up and come back asking help? an i mean that in the nicest possible way.

good luck.

There are notches on both the cam gears and the plate behind them. These need to be lined up. Of course the engine has to be at TDC.

Like frank said... Your fly wheel has to be at 0 on the flywheel (Top Dead Centre)... and both your cam gears should line up...by that I mean there are little dots on the cam gears...if you look you will see them they are little dots with a letter on the cam gears...when your fly wheel is at 0 (TDC) your cam gear dots should align with the lines on the cam cover..(the metal behind your cam gears) You will see two straight lines behind your cam gears)Your cam gear dots should align with the two lines behind them when on Top Dead Centre...Thats all...When you check your timing make sure its on 10 degrees with the TE1 and E1 pin shorted with a wire in your diagnostic plug. Also make sure your rotor button is on number one cylinder.... when you do this...ezy to tell by the dizzy cap numbers...just my 2c worth.

the only problem i had while doing t-belt job on a 1G-GTE was the harmonic dampner pulley,it was stuck to do crankshaft, i had to use a puller. Just make sure you have a puller availabe.

Ey all,

Well its almost done, took us hours to get the pully off, the bolt wouldent move, but we got it, then the pully wouldent come off, but we got it off too Razz.

BIGGEST problem was getting the belt on, we couldent manage to get the cams lined up and the engine at TDC while putting the belt on, but we did it.

We called it a day there as we spent 5 hours doing that. Work on it on monday and finish it off. We have decided to do a full service too.

Thanx for the help fellas, since this was my first timing belt im DAMN scared of doing mine (FWD 3SGE) but thats next years prob.

Cheers

P.s. Ignore gramma or spelling errors, we decided we needed a good drink after the job....
