hey guys, i hav an ae82 rolla with 280 000 on the clock and since i bought it its started possibly pinging when it gets loaded up. im not sure about this tho. engine is a 4ac

are there any suggestions on how to fix this problem or what it could be?

any help much appreciated.

retard your timing till it stops pinging, though it sounds like it might be a more serious problem, mabe carbon buildup causing detonation if its just doing it by its self at the factory timing.
if changing the timing doesnt work put a bottle of that Wynns carbon deposit/buildup cleaner/ remover treatment (cant remember the name) in the fuel. that might help.

mabe check the vacuum advance too...

If that dont work try running a higher octane fuel, like 98 and or a octane booster if your that concerned about the life of the motor. Also if your carbie is looking old and shitty prob wouldnt hurt to have that looked at as it may be a fuel delivery problem.
