i think Phil's (Mr DOHC) listing of traders in his Sig that he liked and dealt seems a sensible approach.
easy to do, and is totally driven by people's satisfaction
a rating system tends to be open to abuse and manipulation - and something vaguely useful (like eBay's setup) requires a great deal of transaction tracking and backend technology that forums usually dont feature (or need).

would fo course be voluntry in my opinion
names list with a simple positive or negitive
ie
asdfasdgf +6, 7 + trades , 1 - trade
asdgji -2, 1+ trade ,3 - trades
also maybe sue this s a reason to cancel ppls caaounts or suspend them if theyre abusing a hounr system like trade in the forums

The problem with this is that it opens up to a lot of libel claims. The Vendor Verdicts subforum on another site was closed due to a libel claim made by a private seller there.
Very much not a good idea. The idea in sigs is possible, because it means that the content is 100% the posters, and it is non moderateable. I.e. the moderators cannot change it, so there is no libel issue with the mods/board. If the verdicts do become moderatable then there is a big scope for libel issues.

But also if someone is dodgy and rips ppl off constantly, but still sells stuff on the forums, then it would be very helpful for potential buyers.
Maybe if you got a comment just put something in your sig like...
I have a sales comment about <name>, pm me for it.

moderators cannot modify signatures, but administrators can - and WILL if necessary.
A signature is just as culpable as a post, so putting negative information etc in there is not really cool.
