if you swap the extension housign with a KE55 5speed one, it will bolt in. you may want to check that the input and output splines are the same tho..

Just put a KE70 5 speed in my car, a KE55. All I needed to do was put the extension housing on from a '55 box, and all is sweet, gearshift in same spot! Very easy to change extension housings. Both the 5 speed boxes I had were 19 spline, same as the 4 speed.
Cheers,
Rob

yes, but you may need to pull off the extension housing and change the drive gear Wink

how many teeth on your KE20 driven gear (the plastic one) if it is 20/21, the it will go stright into the KE70 box. if it is 19, then you need to change both the drive and driven gear.

My speedo gear is 19 teeth, I think that should be the same as your 4 speed.Count the teeth and see how you go. Did the '20 have 12" or 13" wheels? That may make a difference too.

as i understand it,
KE10 had 5/19 teeth, early KE20 had 5/19 theeth. late had 6/20, and that continued up to later models,. with some having 6/21 teeth also (i think just the KE70's)
5tooth is different diameter to 6 tooth, but 20/21 can be swapped with no probs.
ymmv
