Does anyone know of a good Yum Cha place in the Sydney hills area or as close as possible to Baulkham Hills?
I know there's one at Chatswood, and plenty in the City, but I was hoping for one a little closer to home.

Hi,
You can try the Castle Terrace in Terminus St, Castle Hill. 9634-3131. They have Yum Cha everyday, but I haven't tried their Yum Cha. There other food is pretty good though, so I s'pose their Y/C should be okay also.
Also, one of their waitresses is quite stunning.

Yes the Castle Terrace is good, there is also one just near the Mall (up some stairs)
There is ALSO one at the Piazza, 'Hilltop' i believe. Packed on Sundays, get in early!
I saw Ron Wilson there once from Channel 10 news so it's gotta be good
Stackload in Parra and the one in Market City Haymarket is legend in Sydney

Yeah, there's one at the piazza, only managed to get in there once. People queuing out the door! I think the place at Norwest does yum cha, but not sure.
I would have to say one of the best yum cha's I've been to would be the Gordon Club at Chatswood. You ALWAYS get a seat and the food is pretty good.

Yeah, I think it' called CoCo or something like that. I was told they're not there anymore, but I haven't verified this for myself yet. They do a very nice sate prawn.
Marigolds in Haymarket is fantastic, but the service isn't very good, but the Y/C is superb - especially the chilli octopus.

the one at cars park rocks if your asian, , best yum cha food ive ever eaten.
but being white, i dont bother with it as the wait for the food and a seat ( while chinese people that arrived after you get seats and service), couppled with the rudness of the service and the adding of meals you didnt buy, just takes something out of a nice meal.

josh - the place at carlingford is great. drive along pennant hills rd, past carlo court, past video ezy, and onto that next tiny mall (pretty mufh only asian shops in it)
there's a restuarant upstairs that serves amazing yum cha.
Of course, last time I went I was with my 2 elderly chinese neighbours, and the old lady suggested the good stuff, and got cranky with the waiters if she wasn't treated properly etc - very cool experience having some 75yo berating a 20yo waiter

its not racism. i dont think you know how the yum cha system works.
first of all, they give u tickets according to how many people you are dining with and if you have say, 5 people where they can only fit 4, someone else will go in front of you. expect to wait a long time if you have alot of people with you.
second, DO NOT expect ANY service AT ALL. chinese restaurants are known for this. any asian person will tell you (also read above posts).
lastly, they try to offload dishes to EVERYONE, not just white people. they do this because they want to get rid of it and get some commission (the stamps have numbers on it, which means that it is them who is selling it).

i do realise that this happens everywhere and have no problem with it. what pissed me off at marigolds was when the drinks waiter just kept shaking his head at us when we tried to order drinks, and then go take orders from other tables. we were there for an hour and a half and didnt get drinks once.
