They should bring back all the different classes - it's not far off a one class make at the moment. The old days of group A was the best...

the ratings keep going up and up its such a great class as its the good old battle between Holden and Ford which i think will get even closer next year due to Ford pulling there finger out of there arse, do we realy want it to turn into a class like the Super Tourers which died?

I think it should be regulated a bit like the brute ute series! Spending 3 million dollars on a car just isn't motorsport!

I agree with you Gins... They should keep it as Holden vs Ford as it is now soo popular... Last weekend was the biggest year of Bathurst ever... New records are being set every year as the cars keep developing...
Why should it be like the Brute Utes??? Then everything would be the same... We have the Brutes, the GT Nations Cup and the Mirage series which all use cars of the showroom floor... The V8 Supercars series is something different just as the Formula One's are and the Cart World Series...

New Ford looks nearly like a Commodore. I say that they're getting with the program.
Ford and Holden is cool.
I liked the old group c.
If you reckon it looks like a one make race now just look at any old photos of the Sierra RS500 days. Heck even Peter Brock drove one! Not only that they're about as ugly as cars get!

they could be in teh front intake just like the current cars and coz the intake is painted black you can't see them.
if u look real close you can just make out two dividers just inside from the intake edge - thats prolly where split off for the brakes

ok prolly better...it would use the space where the vent were for aero dynamics and disturb the air only in one spot

The similarities of the cars make it a good thing. I think they should publicise GTP and Nations Cup a lot better though as its a good change

its so nice to see ford turn out a car that looks like a muscle car again
i thinks the ford vs holden racing is great but reckon toyota and misubishi should have the option to hava a homologated version to race
at least they would probably use their own diffs and suspension .... the ford 9 inch still rules

I was just looking at Craig Lowndes AU race car last night. It might be just too dark to see the vents, because they were in the same spot as the radiator, the front bar looks really similar to his current one.

the prob with having toyota and mitsu in the v8 supercars basically revolves around the engine.
both manufacturers don't have anything that resembles a pushrod v8 hence from cost perspectives isn't wise to develop an engine for racing that then has no relevence to their product lineup.
same point can be made for making them rwd. would have to modify the floorpan too much to make it work.
suspension wise both ford and holden are going to be running common front ends due to 'project ford(blue)print" and as always rear end will stay a live axle.
mitsu and toyota could be accomodated if holden and ford were prepared to move to a dohc engine, but the is no way anyone is gonna let that happen becoz of the lack of marketibility and the cost of developing a new engine and then the associated problems of having to have 'parity' between potentially 4 different engines.
but hey... i would like to see mitsu and toyota in it. perhaps avesco and cockrane should have a look at the german DTM series and then see how you can have multiple manufacturers with some restrictions still lead to great racing. would be awesome to see a soarer, magna, commodore, falcon, and a few mercs and beemers runnign round bathurst!!

I don't really see the problem in the engine dept. any more...Holden and Ford don't produce cars with 5l and pushrods, hell, Ford Australia doesn't even produce a car with pushrods any more...
I think Holden should spend some of the money they didn't spend on the VY to give them a decent engine.

new engines for the normal commo's are out in the VE - will be dohc 60° V6 with 5 speed auto.
shame gotta wait till then tho.
and the gen3 is gonna be round for ages... altho will become the gen4 after its released in the 2003 corvette. normal things - more power and torque

i wish they would bring back the sandman... would be absolutely awesome. they did an updated model of it a couple of years ago at the sydney motor show - had a wicked paint job on it.
theres been stuff on the VE in auto mags for a fair while now - i'll see if i can go back and find the articles and i'll scan em (or portions) to get some details going.
