just buy a thermopstat and fit it
its only 20 bucks
without a thermostat yr car will take ages to warm up
it slows the water flow in yr cooling system making sure the engine warms up fast

Check that the heater tap is opening and closing properly when you use the adjustment on the dash. It's only coolant flowing through a metal core with air passing through it from the fan. If no heat and car is warm then the coolant from the engine must not be passing through the heater core properly.
Therefore either:
Tap is not opening to let heated coolant pass
or
There is a blockage prevent the coolant from flowing through the heater core.
Pretty simple.
