a normal 4a hAS a shorter oil filter. a ge and gze have a longer filter i think the 20v have the longer filter too. ones a e1 and the other is a e2 or c3 and c4 in the old number system

90915-10003 is the short one and 90915-10004 is the long one.

yeah you can run either but if u have noticed toyota recomends the application on the side of the box and in the 4ag series the 4ag compared to a 4af runs a higher oil pressure hence the bigger filter.

when it comes down to it you can use either.
they are both listed for 4ages and 4afes etc. just different years. they both fit fine, my last job was lubes at toyota
if your worried about pressure use TRD filters

yeah it says that on the boxes, but they are essentially the same filter, and if you look up a ae82/aw11 it lists the 10003. well actually the 03001 which s/s to 10003
also they both cross over to the z386 (or 191a depending on what book u use)
you wont have any probs using either, i prefer the TRD 10003 equiv because its shorter, moving it away from the headers (iv got an ae101 20v) and the TRD ones filter better
haha thats an odd thing to collect!
