VVT information for 20v

I've heard the stock 20v has VVT on at 4400rpm and off at about 7200rpm, is this only the case for the black top's VVTi? Does the stock silver-top's VVT turn OFF the VVT at 7200rpm? Or does it ONLY turn on at 4400rpm and leave it on all the way?

The silvertop switches off again at high revs, I think the blacktop is a variable thing which constantly changes through the rev range.

so that means it's pretty hard to replicate the on and off signal if using an aftermarket ECU? As my microtech can only switch VVT on at 4400rpm, it won't switch it back off..

If you've got two outputs, you can do some nifty wiring with relays to switch it off again, that's how I did it with my Haltech.

That makes it a little more tricky, I'd suggest leaving it on down low (it really only made a difference in my car below 3000 or so), the making it switch back above about 6000 or so.
That should give you a nice meaty idle as well
