2rz bellhousing to 3rz engine

Hi Guys,
Can anyone tell me if the g/box bellhousing from a 2rz 2wd deisel will bolt to the 3rzfe 2wd petrol motor? 79 hiace to 2002 hiace.

A 79 Hiace does not have an RZ series engine... it will be an R series engine, probably a 12R. Unfortunately the R and RZ series engines are totally different and it's unlikely (although not impossible) the bellhousings are interchangeable.

If they are completely different, there are a few relatively simple ways to get the two to mate up. Firstly, you can make a hybrid bellhousing by combining one that suits the engine with one that suits the gearbox. It takes a bit of care and planning with the ruler, and the manufacture of a simple jig. It is also possible to make the trans fit into the rear of the engine-suitable bellhousing (depending on the style of the gearbox-to-bellhousing connection of course), or making an adapter plate to go between the back of the motor and the gearbox-suitable bellhousing (this is how I put a Supra A340 auto from a 7M onto the back of a landcruiser 1FZ-FE 4.5L 6cyl. AMEND THAT TO 1997 HILUX to 2002 Hilux (Must remember to stay calm and take my medication).
I know the Hilux uses a Supra type g/box. I read that the box is a W50, then a W56, then a W59? Can anyone enlight me as to which is normally fitted to the 3rz? A purchased a 3rz with auto. My intention was to bolt up a W58 and I have been told there is a bell housing that will do this, I believe it is the 2rz bellhousing. The wrecker will sell it me for $70 but wont tell me what it is (trade secret he says). In the meantime I have seen a 97 5sp 2wd deisel g/box for sale. Again I dont know which box this is. What I am basically asking is will this box bolt up to the 3rz? Can anyone enlight me as to what the 97 deisel box would be?
