Hey All,
When you change gear, was the diff meant to make a "clunk"?
Cheers.

nah it's not ment to clunk. A sign your diff is worn, my open diff does it aswell. Excessive backlash, it can be fixed with the right tools or just take the diff to a diff specialist shouldn't cost too much.

Thanks Dingaling,
I just got the diff back from getting it's pinion bearings replaced after having the carrier bearings and the center replaced. It's an LSD Diff
I'll take it to a diff specialist when I can afford it and get them to adjust the lash on it. Apparenlty the crownwheel and pinion is all good but hopefully it can last as long till i build up the funds again...
Cheers.

yeah they can go on for years like that. Mine is quite bad, the clunk cuases my car to lurch forward voilently. Also on downshifts it tends to jerk the car abit too.
If you have a manual you can soften the clunking with better clutch control.
I should have my new LSD next week, i'll post up my results (hopefully no more clunking)
