It should be underneath the exhaust manifold.
But they may have a remote oil filter.
Dunno for sure, but usually on the exhaust side of the block.

Put it up on ramps an have a look !

F**k knows !

Could be a remote job which means it could be anywhere in the engine bay.

I'm not familiar with the SW20 !

Is it a 3sge or 3sgte ?

The oil filter is going to be right next to the exhaust manifold, near your dipstick.u wont need to jack the car up.they use a Z386 filter too.

A 97 mr2 is either a 3sge or a 3sgte. so its either turbo or non turbo.

Have a look under the car from infront of the the drivers side rear wheel, should see it on the front side of the sump.
If it's an Aus delivered 97 model it would have the gen 3 3S-GE.

it might have a black oil filter on it. Razz (like the repco brands)
its gotta be there. my car has a sw20 motor in it and the oil filter location is no different to a celica.. Confused
