Your Opinions Plz - Fusion sub and Fusion amp Mon, 13 December 2004 02:50 Go to next message
Hey everyone, just wanting ppl's advice on sub and amps i'm gettin. I'm gettin 2 12" subs,

FEW-12 Encounter woofer from fusion. Power handling-400 watt, Impedance- 4 Ohms, Efficiency- 91 db

Fusion FE-1002 - 2 ch Encounter Amp, 100 WRMs x 2 into 4 OHMS or 160 WRMS x 2 into 2 OHMS

Can anybody tell me if these are good components? Would the amp run the subs easily?

Thanks in advance

If you want doof doof I'd look at getting an amp that has a little more power. It will power them fine but if you are in to turning them up you may find they start to clip and distort. Most amped setups run around 50-80WRMS into front splits alone, so you might want a little more power to those subs. If you are just into SQ then it should be fine.

That amp will run the subs fine.. The fact that it runs 160W RMS x 2 into 2ohms is good. Most people really go overboard on amp/sub power. Unless you really want to crank it up to ear bleeding levels, you don't need a gajillion watts. Smile

I run a crappy Jaycar 50wx4ch amp, bridging one channel for the sub, so it's putting out approx. 100w (not quite though), and that's more than enough for a little bit of doof-doof. It's only in a Magna, so who cares? lol

same power level, but twice the cone area will mean the two subs will still be louder. Seems like a decent setup to me.

If you want really good advice check out www.caraudioaustralia.com

It may run 160WRMS x 2Ohms, but the impendence of the subs are 4Ohm. To get the most out of it look for some 2Ohm subs, or get a monoblock and DVC subs and use the correct wiring setup to get your impendence.

www.caraudioaustralia.com is an excellent place to go.
