G'day everyone,
just signed up for toymods because i have a few questions that nobody else can answer... i just recently have purchased a ae92 seca...[it was my dads] and the engine has done a very healthy 310,000 k's as this engine isnt going to last forever i am looking at either a 4agze conversion or silver top 20v, 20v wud be very grateful for any information or sugestion on my idea and also on where i would be able to obtain decent priced half cuts for either of these engines.
thanks a heap

look around at wreckers, importers, and other sites like www.sydneyrollaclub.com and www.twincam.org, there's usually front cuts and all that being sold...
also do a search of the site, its one of the most commonly asked questions

do a search for "front cut" in the tech and conversion section... there is a thread titled ***teh list*** or something which has a list of all the import wreckers.
as for the conversion data.
http://www.twincam.org/forums -->FAQ
http://www.rollamods.com
and right here on toymods.

if u plan to upgrade brakes or use stronger gbox then get a front cut
if u plan to go a 20v then u can use a 20v gbox and use std shafts
makes job cheaper
but if u plan a gze then get the bigger box and bigger shafts and bigger brakes

ok well i dont think after doing a bit of looking around that a GZE is in my price range ..im only an apprentice for christ sake :S, its either 4AGE-100kw or silver top 20V, 20V are all your thoughts on these to engines and what do u reckon is my best bet for power and saving those penies,
can u get much power out of a worked 100kw? 100kw more out of a worked 20V?

20v conversion is a waste of time if you are on a budget.... and in my opinion there is more potential (cheaper potential) in a 100kW 16v anyway - as they share a SHITLOAD of parts with the GZE - the 20V does not.
from $2k if you do EVERYTHING yourself, you could just scrape thru with a dodgy 100kw conversion.

would u suggest that i purchase a whole front cut(4AGE 100kw) or just the engine because the 4age shares alot of common parts with the stock 4afe, i wont start any conversion till i have 2500-3000 bucks and i already have a workshop where i can do the conversion, is the fron cut necissary or not?
